« I managed dinner • Main • Wow, his thank you made my day » May 22, 2008177Whoot whoot! (That’s my new favorite way to holler.) I saw 177 on the scale today, yay! I’m also feeling great because despite recovering from a yucky stomach flu, I ran my 5k yesterday. The night before I thought for sure that I wouldn’t be able to do it but when I started feeling a little better I just decided to show up and play it by ear. This was a much tougher and hilly course and I had to power walk up one of the steep hills (maybe a quarter of a mile). But even with having to walk I beat my last time by a minute! Afterwards I felt awesome and so accomplished it was cool. I am suffering some bad sciatica but I still did OK with it. I feel so tough today even with a corny limp. I’ve said it before but running these races helps with the motivation and the reward. It’s a lot of fun being around so many people who get excited about it and make you feel great when you’re crossing the finish line. I practically want to cry every time (especially when you think of the charity you’re running for). It’s moving. I’m hoping this motivation and ambition spreads to other aspects of my life. I’m sure it will. I’m also excited to see how much better I do when I’m carry 10 less pounds! I can do this. Posted by hopeful @ May 22, 2008 10:07 AM CommentsI'm so happy to see you doing so well. I know you struggled for a long while there. I'm going through a big of a slump right now myself, and seeing you start to rebound makes me think I can do it too. My Stats

Awesome! You are inspiring me yet again.
I stopped running about 2 weeks ago because I felt that my shin bone was starting to exhibit some of the same symptoms I had before with previous exercise that resulted in a stress fracture. I've been leary about signing up for the 5k that I had in mind because of that, but I'm going to start slowly jogging next week and hopefully my body will be able to take the stress.
Saturday I went on a 24 mile bike ride and accidently joined in a triathlon. It was funny. I was riding my bike and up ahead I saw just tons and tons of bikers. I rode with them for about a mile and then took a turn that the other bikers didn't. It was fun to be with them for a bit though and I saw how it could be great to do a race all together. Win or lose doesn't matter, it really is about being together and having fun while doing something good for yourself (and the charity that you are doing it for, of course).
You go girl! Congrats on your latest scale #
