Slowly chipping

I’m continuing to do pretty well. Everyday I just try to eat a little less and move around a little more. These are very slight changes so I don’t feel like I’m making any crazy sacrifices or doing anything drastic that won’t work over the long haul. I feel like I’m eating what I want and there’s a little less focus on food. It helps me feel a little more normal (yes Mia, I just want to be normal).

Not having a kitchen might be helping too. I don’t eat so much because I don’t want to wash dishes. I just bought paper plates tonight so hopefully that doesn’t counter the dish washing theory. And having so much to deal with is a nice distraction to keep my mind off of food.

My back is doing much better so I’m not looking at months of immobility like last time. I’m planning on taking a beginner’s Pilates class at my gym (I know, I forgot I was a member also) to strengthen my back and everything else. It should be just enough for me to handle.

I think I've been losing about a half a pound a week or so and I feel good and less yo-yo-ee for longer periods of time, now that's progress! I weighed 195 this morning.

Here are some progress pictures of my kitchen from before to demo. More to come. My husband isn't thrilled by how he looks in these :-).

These pictures bring back childhood memories! This is what my parents spent the whole time doing. Funny enough...now I love it! We need to do our kitchen, too. But not quite gutting it...lol We have left the kitchen till last for obvious reasons...although, the paper plate thing sounds easier than doing dishes!
I, too, am doing a slow but steady loss But that means it will be more permanent, right?

Holy Cow! I had no idea when you say re-model that it means completely rip out every shred of your kitchen. I'm sure it will look awesome when you are done. I think it's great that you guys take on projects that are so huge. It's got to feel great when you know it was your own sweat and muscle that changed your own home.

I can't wait to see the end product!!!

Our kitchen looks exactly like yours right now - gutted to the studs and floorboards. It's exciting isn't it? But a little stressful all the same!

Oh jeeze Molly,
We're not doing this. There's no way we would get this done in a lifetime.

We're having it done by professionals. There's a lot of reframing, plumbing, and electrical that needs to be done by the pros.

Phew....I was thinking you guys were insane for a minute. We're going to have our floor redone in our home soon...and definetely not doing it ourselves!

By the way. I've lost 12 pounds so far! It's been 3 1/2 weeks and I'm feeling great. I'm not doing it as intensely as I have in the past, but am working out 5x a week and that is helping. I have to say that watching shows like The Biggest Loser has an impact. I close my eyes while doing the elliptical, or in the spin class and I can envision Jillian standing next to me yelling to push harder and it actually works.

We're off to Disneyland on Saturday for a week and I'm going to be challenged to workout in different ways (I'm so used to my local gym!) I'll let you know how it goes.

Oh my gosh! That's awesome Molly! 12 pounds!
I have been losing maybe .5 pound a week.

I've got to get back to working out. One of my goals is going to a pilates class that starts in a week or so.

Congratulations on mkaing lifestyle choices which will serve you forever rather than "dieting" and depriving. Thanks for sharing being so realistic... not pie in the sky (excuse the pun.)

Keep pushing play,

After getting tired of take out and "microwave magic" I learned to cook on my BBQ grill during our (5 month) kitchen remodel at our last house...this house we skipped the kitchen remodel and I just mostly cook on the BBQ grill. I'm sure it will be beautiful and worth it when you are finally done!
