Trying something new, again

Ok, on the advice of some others I’ve decided to checkout FitDay and SparkPeople. If nothing else I will burn a lot of calories entering in my food items in both places. Being compulsive, it’s not good enough for me to only keep track of calories in one site nor are the existing food items adequate to represent what I actually eat. I feel compelled to enter all of my own products with brand name and description. What if a company has reformulated their product in the past year or so? There is this Chinese noodle product I occasionally buy and the ingredients change by the batch load. I read every package and they are never consistent, random seafood and shellfish show up occasionally (which I don’t eat). I want this precise, dang it (minus the little nibbles I take of my daughter’s meals, of course.) Just kidding, I don’t nibble when I track my calories because I get paranoid that I can’t calculate the nutritional value of said nibs. I’m nuts.

Joining these sites certainly has hampered my eating because I’m too busy entering data. I’ll narrow down to one site when I decide which I like better. So far I like the simplicity of FitDay but I’m curious to see if I get intrigued and actually use the flare and amenities of SparkPeople. I completely nixed the Weight Watchers because it’s a hefty expense.

The past couple of days my calories where actually low. I’m guessing previously when I was trying to watch what I eat I ate too little, which sent me on a rampage shortly after. And it probably contributed to my fatigue and mental-nut-bag-ness. I have to re-learn what a healthy daily calorie allowance is (one that allows me to lose about 2 pounds a week.)

One thing I did notice already is that I eat a very well balanced diet without even trying based on this image from Spark.

For a second when I first saw this, I thought “what on earth do my values have to do with dieting?” … I’m a good person, how dare they judge me ;-) *doh*
