« Couldn’t leave well enough alone • Main • Sell This House! » June 14, 2006Fitness orientationI came so close to bailing on my fitness orientation today because I was tired and didn’t think my daughter would handle being babysat in Kid Central for the full amount of time. But I didn’t (due, in large part, to my mom looking after the Mini) and it was great. I’m familiar with most machines at the gym by now but it’s nice to get a refresher course every now and then to make sure you’re doing it right. There was actually a machine that is new to me and it was awesome, called the arc trainer. It’s kind of like the elliptical trainer but can do a bit more. It simulates a variety of exercising like walking, stepping, to climbing and more. The real reason I went was to get set up on the Fitlinx system. It’s a computer that logs all your gym activity. The trainer set me up for a basic weight loss and stress reduction plan. She entered all my stats into the computer and my expected routine, etc. Then we went through half the circuit of machines that are connected to the computer. She showed me how to do each one and we set the weight, range of motion (so the computer can tell me if I over extend and stuff), machine settings, reps, etc. Pretty much everything so that it’s nearly impossible to do it wrong and it will keep track of my workouts, fitness level, calories burned, weight, and then some. It was amazingly cool. So lets see if having yet another system to monitor my progress will keep me motivated. How many am I involved in now? Like three or something. I’ve been slacking on the first two. I go through cycles. I guess the important part is that I stick to trying to remain healthy and active. Posted by hopeful @ June 14, 2006 11:05 AM |
