Two days and counting

So far so good. I’ve been eating well for the past few days and have had a couple of killer workouts.

Last night we went to eat at our favorite vegan restaurant and I still managed to control my portion size. I actually ordered a cup of soup and a half sandwich. I’ve seen that combo on a number of menus in my day and always thought “what a joke” or “what fool would ever”, “you gotta be crazy”, and such. It turns out to be the perfect size. I was completely content. Now if I had been in binge mode I would have killed somebody but as luck would have it everybody remained alive.

Tip alert: I’m going to have to make note of this. One of the main reasons I like to go out to eat is for the atmosphere. I use it as an excuse to indulge once I get there. Now I’ve learned if I order something that I don’t love as much, but just enjoy, I will be able to restrain myself portion-wise and still feel like I’ve treated myself to a nice evening out.

Also if you’re in good company, talk a lot, and before you know it everyone else is done, staring at you impatiently, and shredding their napkins up into big mounds on the table. If you want to stay friends with these people and ever be asked out again, you’ll have most of your dinner wrapped to go, hence saving calories.

I’m going to employ a new technique moving forward. I’m going to start counting calories using My-calorie-counter.com (you’ll see the link on the side). Up until now I really didn’t even want to think about it. That approach worked fine to get me to the weight I’m at now but I think I need to take it up a notch to lose 40 more pounds. I want to be more aware of what I’m eating and how much it’s costing me in calories because I bust my but at the gym.

We’ll see how it goes.
