« Possessed roller coaster • Main • I’m at work gotta be quick » December 6, 2005I’m one step ahead’a yaI happened upon this article yesterday that suggests "people who have an alcoholic drink or two a day may have a lower risk of becoming obese than either teetotalers or heavy drinkers..." They had me at "hello". I’ve been having my dinner’s with Carlo for about a month now. I make the necessary adjustments in my calorie allotment for just one glass of wine a day. I haven’t even had it every day, just when I feel my stress level is of volcanic proportions. Unfortunately my stress is too high more often that not. Researchers aren’t sure why light drinking might have this affect on weight. I think it’s the stress relief that has the positive result. I know that stress isn’t good for my diet. I eat when I’m frazzled. I also think that my metabolism comes to a screeching halt to free up resources to cope with said stress. I’m not a big drinker so I never want more than one glass and that does the trick. It makes me feel relaxed and warm. It certainly quells the COB* when that rears its ugly head. I sleep better that night and it continues to reduce my stress and anxiety the next day. I can’t condone drinking for everyone that’s for sure, but I don’t think we have to exclude it like we’ve been told to by diet gurus. That’s my theory. *COB is the Compulsive Overeating Beast that lives within me that I’m now trying to keep down by liquoring it up with lots of booze ;-) Posted by hopeful @ December 6, 2005 1:39 PM |
